Once there was a wizard who was cast out of their tower, by a mysterious force. The wizard has eventually managed to return to the tower they once called home, although it has been overrun with elemental creatures that now occupy the endless rooms of the labyrinth the mysterious force has turned the tower into. The wizard has chosen to venture into their tower in an attempt to rid it of its occupiers and return their home to it former glory. Through the collection of the lost scrolls the wizard hopes to regain enough power to restore the tower once and for all, however with each room ventured the possibility of resolution dimmers and the likelihood of the tower becoming the wizard’s tomb seems predetermined.
Building upon my written analysis as part of the first design assignment this group collaboration was intended to demonstrate said theory in a practical example, while integrating the theme of the four elements. for the development of this game I was designated as the technical lead and in my position I delivered a turn based combat mechanic, along with randomised level generation (using grid based movement). The game’s combat utilises a elemental hierarchy system that’s based upon the rock, paper, scissors format.
